I would like to know each candidate's position as to whether the ABOA should retain the duties of the ARC or would he/she be in favor of appointing others to assume the ARC's duties.

Hi, My name is David McGee; I am a candidate for the ABOA Board of Directors. Effective without being intrusive is how I see the association being run. My vision of ABOA DUES: $10.00 per month if paid annually in advance. $15.00 if paid monthly on time. This would net $95,000.00 annually to ABOA. ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW: Professional Architect would advise the review committee on plans relative to CC&R compliance. Cost would be covered by a fee, paid when plans are submitted, as it has been done to date. The Board would act as the review committee, at least for now. CC&R ENFORCEMENT: The burden of proof should be on ABOA not the homeowner. When necessary however, cost should be covered by fines against the homeowner. MAINTENANCE: Mail box areas and entrance signs paid for by dues. MANAGEMENT: The Board would oversee a professional management company that would be used to receive dues, plans, letters, phone calls and provide accounting services.. They would be paid on a part-time basis which would be covered by dues. You would also always have access to the Board. OTHER COST: Insurance, occasional legal advice and audits. The first year it is vital to set a good foundation for ABOA. I am asking for your support to help me establish a solid organization that looks out for our interest but does not interfere in our lives. I am 65 years old, Married 42 years and retired in 2004. Owned our own business for 30 years and was a part time instructor at COCC 2001-2004. I have lived in Bend since 1982 and on the Butte since 1992. I have extensive experience in finance, contracts, public relations, marketing and human resource. I started two highly successful businesses. I would like to see ABOA responsive to the homeowners without being a burden to them. Architectural review, maintenance of the entrance signs and mailbox areas along with CC&R enforcement should be the limit of ABOA activities. Awbrey Butte has been a great place to live with very few problems. I see ABOA as a means to continue the Butte as it is not to change it. David McGee, Candidate I can be reached at 848-7766 or mcgeeteam@gmail.com or on this blog.

1. Yes. 2. I oppose any further expansion of the Tower. The role of ABOA is to actively represent the wishes of Butte Owners. Hopefully this would include having input into any decision making process as it regards expansion. If we can organize opposition, then we may be able to impact the outcome. Building relations with City would be key to our success and should be a priority once the new ABOA Board is up and running.

This is a question for each of the candidates: First of all though, thanks for being willing to represent our community! Since 2001, residents of Awbry Butte have been opposing speculative expansion of the broadcast towers on top of the Butte. At this time, several of the Hearings Officer's decisions have been remanded back to the City. 1. Would you vote for ABOA to join in opposing speculative expansion of the broadcast towers. 2. If the answer to Question 1 is yes: what role do you see ABA taking. Thanks, Andrew Shooks
